Adding three fractions is the same and as easy as adding two fractions. First, all mixed numbers must be changed to improper fractions. Next, change dissimilar fractions into similar fractions. Add all the numerators together then copy the denominator.

Last but not the least, reduce the fractions to lowest terms.

Example:

1/2 + 5/6 + 1 5/3

1/2 + 5/6 + 8/3

3/6 + 5/6 + 16/6

24/6

= 4
